Benefits & Development

A general list of employee benefits is listed below. Availability and eligibility for benefits may vary from location to location and will be discussed in detail at time of hire.

HEALTH INSURANCE
BIC provides comprehensive medical/prescription, dental, and vision coverage for full-time and eligible part-time employees and enrolled dependents beginning the first of the month following date of hire.

401(K) SAVINGS & INVESTMENT PLAN
BIC’s 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan encourages long-term savings. Full-time and eligible part-time employees may enter the plan any time after the first of the month following date of hire. Employees may contribute from 1% to 25% of eligible earnings. Employees may choose among several investment options, with BIC matching 50% of the employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 6% of eligible earnings.

PENSION
BIC provides a pension plan for all full-time and eligible part-time employees. Vesting requirements apply.

PERFORMANCE BONUS PROGRAM
BIC is proud of its history of offering a performance bonus program to all non-represented eligible employees. The decision to pay a bonus and the amount of bonus paid to any employee is entirely within the Company’s discretion.

LIFE INSURANCE & DISABILITY
BIC provides short-term and long-term disability, accidental death & dismemberment coverage and life insurance to all full-time and eligible part-time employees. These benefits are available upon date of hire and are company paid.

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE
Employees may purchase additional life insurance for themselves and eligible dependents. Through the Employee and Dependent Optional Term Life Insurance programs employees have an opportunity to provide additional financial protection for themselves and eligible family members.

WHOLE LIFE INSURANCE
Employees may purchase a whole life insurance policy for themselves, spouse, children and grandchildren at reduced rates. This insurance is portable; meaning if the employee changes jobs or retires, the insurance will remain in force as long as premiums continue to be paid by the employee.

GROUP AUTO & HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE
Employees may purchase auto, home and other personal insurance at special discounted group rates for themselves and immediate family members. Insurance availability may differ per state.

LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE
Employees may purchase Long Term Care insurance at discounted group rates for themselves and eligible family members.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS
BIC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in Flexible Spending Accounts, a program where “pre-tax” money is set aside from the employee’s paycheck to pay for eligible health and dependent care expenses. Employees may contribute to the Health Care Spending Account and to the Dependent Care Spending Account.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)
BIC provides a confidential counseling program available to employees and their families to assist in identifying and resolving personal issues. It is available 24/7 and there is no cost or obligation to the employee.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
BIC encourages employees to return to school on a part-time basis, and provides financial assistance to those who choose to continue their education under this Program. Company support may be given to eligible employees having the appropriate length of service for approved degree programs and courses related to the Company’s business.

HEALTH & WELLNESS
The health and wellness of our employees is important to BIC. We hold numerous wellness events so that employees may evaluate the status of their health and be motivated to live a healthy lifestyle. We also support this ideology by frequently providing educational material regarding personal health topics. In addition, active fitness participation is encouraged through a subsidized program.

BIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
BIC offers an Annual College Scholarship Program for children of full-time employees. Individual scholarships range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $5,000. To date, BIC has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships to students.

SERVICE AWARDS
Service awards are presented to all full-time and eligible part-time employees at five-year intervals. This award is an expression of the Company’s pride in your accomplishments and in appreciation of your years of service with BIC.

TIME OFF
BIC provides all full-time and eligible part-time employees with vacation time based on their length of service with the company. In addition, holiday pay, time off for funeral leave, jury duty, and military obligations are provided.

INTERNAL JOB POSTING

MATCHING GIFTS PROGRAM
BIC encourages employees to support qualified educational/cultural institutions and social service community organizations by offering a Matching Gift Program. The program is voluntary and enables employees to double the effectiveness of their personal contributions.
